Top Conservatory Trends for 2016

Posted: Thursday, 10 May 2018 @ 11:19

We’re nearing the end of the first month of 2016, and after some terrible weather most people are already dreaming of summer. It may be half a year away but we can’t wait for long bright days, vibrant gardens and spending mornings and evenings enjoying the view from the conservatory. When it comes to orangeries and conservatories, here’s what’s going to be hot in 2016…

Colour Trends

When it comes to interior design, the only institute to take advice from is Pantone. It predicts all the shades which are going to be big in fashion and home décor and it’s usually spot on! 2016 is all about two colours – rose quartz and serenity blue. These peaceful colours will definitely create a tranquil atmosphere in any conservatory this year. Use on the walls or just sprinkle the colours around the room in the form of cushions and accessories.

DIY

For homeowners who haven’t already found the perfect conservatory, a supply-only option or DIY conservatory is the latest trend. Not only can it save you a huge amount of money, but you will truly appreciate your new room because you went to the trouble of building it yourself. You may need a few helping hands but with a self-build conservatory you’ll feel an amazing sense of accomplishment, and enjoy spending time in it even more.

Bring the Outside In

This trend has been gathering pace for a while around the home, but the easiest place to incorporate it is in the conservatory or orangery. Living walls and generally any plants will get plenty of sunlight thanks to the large windows and glass ceiling, so your shrubs, succulents and greenery will flourish. During the summer why not hang hanging baskets inside for a modern twist?

Back to Basics Dining

If you use your conservatory as a dining room, then it’s time for a new concept. Out with the old and in with the new – the back to basics trend. You can still have a large table but it’s time to forget about the chairs, as now it’s all about the bench. Perfect for conservatories, these types of wooden tables with long benches have a relaxed, summery feel and are perfect for barbeques and daytime parties. Spruce up the bench with pretty little cushions, which also makes the hard seat more comfortable.

What do you think of the latest trends, will you be transforming your conservatory this year? Let us know.
