DIY Conservatories

What is a DIY Conservatory?

A DIY conservatory is an affordable option for homeowners who only require the parts, fixtures and fittings. The price of a DIY conservatory includes everything you need to build the conservatory, including technical instructions, but it doesn’t include the cost of building the extension.

Using the modular conservatory builder, you can design and build a conservatory to meet your needs. Prior offers a large range of self-build conservatories, including a choice of traditional and modern conservatory designs. Once a style is chosen, you can also then choose your preferred colour, type of glazing and roof for your conservatory. We’ll also help you with all the added extras to create an ideal room to use all year round, including hardware, locking systems, ventilation, heating options and blinds.

Would I be able to build my own Conservatory?

Many homeowners are apprehensive about building their own conservatory if they have never done it before. However, our modular systems are designed to be simple to self-build for any DIY enthusiast with a basic set of tools. All conservatories are made to measure and offer hassle free self-assembly. We supply detailed instructions and also have a technical support and advice line if you need any extra help during the assembly process.

If you don’t feel confident enough to attempt to build your own conservatory, you can still benefit from achieving the conservatory of your dreams at a fraction of the cost. Perhaps you have a family member who is a builder or know a DIY expert you could ask to help out. It is also worth pricing up a DIY conservatory and the cost of a trader to assemble it, compared to a supply and fit conservatory option. Prior self-build conservatories are exceptional value for money and give you the freedom to design your ideal garden room.

DIY Design Options

Here at Prior we offer a varied choice of designs and floor layouts, ideal for most homes and gardens. If you feel that none of these styles would suit your home, you can also design a completely bespoke conservatory which is tailored to your tastes and requirements.

Lean To

Lean To ConservatoryA lean to conservatory is the most versatile of all the designs, and offers a clean and simple look from the outside of the house. The pitch of the roof on this style can be altered, so it can be adjusted to the right height for terraced homes, bungalows and any other property. This style is perfect to create a sun room, garden room or greenhouse.

Hipped Lean To

Hipped Lean To ConservatoryThe Hipped Lean To conservatory offers a contemporary twist on the conventional lean to style. For added style and sophistication, this design includes hipped wings to the side of the roof, which let extra light flood through into the room. Stylish and versatile, this conservatory can be fitted to most homes, even when depth is restricted.

Gable End

Gable End ConservatoryThis style has a rectangular floor space which makes it a great choice for breakfast rooms, home offices and reading or leisure rooms. The slanted roof creates height within the conservatory, producing a light and airy feel. The distinctive appearance of the gable end conservatory is typical of conservatories during the period 1760-1820, offering a grandeur aesthetic.

Victorian

Victorian ConservatoryA classical style of conservatory, the Victorian is one of the most popular designs. The bay front and curved appearance makes it both practical and versatile, while offering a visual appeal. The steep pitched roof gives the room plenty of height, and this style is available in three, five or seven facet depending on the size you require.

Edwardian

Edwardian ConservatoryThe Edwardian design is a combination of traditional styles such as the Victorian, and more contemporary designs with flat walls and windows. This makes it extremely versatile and suited to most homes. With a modern rectangular floorplan and high roof, it is perfect for entertaining or escaping with a book.
