We have been asked in the past about what options we have when it comes to the doors that we supply with our DIY conservatory kits. Obviously most people go for the standard French door which opens out but this is by no means all that we can supply. I have just quoted a conservatory with French doors in the front wall and two single doors one at each end. It makes no odds to us if they open in or out - we can provide both options. We were also asked if a standard single door could be adapted to....

Before even starting out on the design of your new conservatory there are a couple of things to bear in mind. When we design the DIY conservatory we obviously use a number of computers. These do not understand feet and inches so please use metric measurements throughout! We also require accurate measurements - a customer came in today and asked us if it would be ok if he was a couple of inches out here and there. We don't think so!! So in order to avoid any awkwardness, please measure things sev....

We occasionally have quite a laugh here at Prior Conservatories! My aim is to keep the price as low as possible whilst giving the customer the very best DIY conservatory possible. After all we use energy rated windows in all of ours and very high quality PVCu profiles from Rehau Ltd. We use the best available roof ....

When you receive the specification sheet for your new Prior DIY conservatory it will list the roof glazing, window frame glazing, handle colours and any extras like roof vents. Which parts of the conservatory do we supply or not? If your conservatory is a full height variety with or without panels, obviously you will get everything from the cill upwards. This would typically include all of the frames for the sides, the entire roof and roof glazing, all rain water goods, hinges, handles for wind....

There is no denying that it was distinctly cool this morning. Thoughts turn inevitably to winter - long dark freezing nights and short, not quite so freezing days. However it is not all doom and gloom. People seem to be gearing up for erecting DIY conservatories before the foul weather hits us. Bear in mind that a Prior DIY conservatory is fitted with energy rated windows as standard, so the ability to use it all the year round is already built in.  But as you probably know, we do not just....

Always looking for better and better products, we have recently introduced our range of Endurance composite doors. As the name suggests, these are built  to last and are certainly designed to stand the rigours of our wonderful British weather. Although we guarantee these doors for ten years, there is no reason why they will not easily last  fifty years at least. They have the appearance of timber doors and because of the solid wood core, they have the weight and feel of a traditional....

When it comes to the foundations of your DIY conservatory, there is no point skimping on them. For a dwarf wall conservatory we recommend that the footings are at least 600mm deep. For a full height design then a very solid and stable purpose made concrete base is the answer. If in doubt about the soil conditions in your area, contact a trusted builder for advice. Once the base has been correctly constructed the erecting of the conservatory will be easy and you will be secure in the knowledge t....

The trouble with that nice old wooden door on the front of your house is the fact it is made of wood. After a few years of sanding it down and repainting or varnishing it, only to have it swell in wet weather and lock you in the house, isn't it about time you thought of changing it for something more reliable? Our full range of composite doors are quite the reverse. They dont swell up, they dont jam and with a life of well over thirty five years, they are built to last. All are extensively test....

We can't tell you what's going to happen next. But we can make sure your composite door is fully protected against extreme weather conditions. Our composite doors are tested in a pressurised chamber to simulate gusting winds. The tests start at 500 pascals-63miles an hour. Then the BSI turned those gusts up to the equivalent of 80 miles an hour(800 pascal). That's stronger than a hurricane. But we weren't quite content with that though.Because we want our composite doors to be fully prepared-like th....

Showers...storms...drizzle...We hate to break it to you,but the average rainfall in the UK is between 700mm a year in East Anglia and 3,000 a year in the Scottish Highlands. That's a lot of potential for leaks, puddles or even worse. The composite doors are tested by the BSI by spraying six litres of water every minute directly at the door in their test chamber. That's a serious amount of rain. So even when it's raining cats and dogs out there, your composite door will keep you snug and dry....

We don't believe in compromising on quality. We've brought together materials to give you the very best in strenght, easy maintenance, security, and weather resistance and looks good as well. Our composite door is thick, but it's also very smart. In fact it's 44mm thick(compare that to conventional pvc panel doors at 28mm).And powerful too, thanks to its super strong structure. A structural frame and up to the hardware makes our composite door even more secure. Its GRP finish means you'll be secure in....
