TORRENTIAL RAIN IS GOOD FOR YOU...!

Friday November 4, 2011 at 2:57pm

The above heading applies particularly if you are digging out the footings for your new DIY conservatory from Prior Conservatories, and trust me, there are quite a few of you doing this at the moment! Todays' heavy rain, flash floods, squalls and plagues of frogs are just what the ground needs after the very dry time that we have endured this year.

When digging out, the wetter is the better, without turning your footings trench into a moat, that is. Many of you get worried about concreting in these conditions but do not worry - concrete will set under water, but best to try and cover it over with a tarpaulin if possible. Anyway look at it another way. It is still mild out there but because the days are now much shorter, there is a limit as to what you can achieve in the light. This means that you can knock off earlier and go down the pub to regain your lost fluid levels!
