At Prior Conservatories we believe in doing things properly. As mentioned in the last post, the groundwork is vital to ensure that all remains in place for the life of the conservatory. We always strongly advise that in the case of a dwarf wall conservatory the footings are dug out to the correct depth and built in the right way to ensure complete success when building your new DIY conservatory.
We get asked every now and again about prefabricated steel bases. We know all about them and do not supply them. The reason is simple. In our opinion, they are a quick fix and given that they sit on small concrete pads, there is again the chance that in a few years time, the pads can move and along with it your conservatory. What a lot of people forget is the weight involved. If there is a glass roof , the weight is significant and therefore it makes a lot of sense to ensure that it stays above you and not on top of you.
If you do go down the steel base road, we will supply the conservatory but the rest is down to you. If something starts to fail because you have not built the conservatory as we instructed, we may not warrant it in the first place.
