MAKE SURE YOUR FOOTINGS ARE UP TO THE JOB!

Wednesday August 24, 2011 at 12:40pm

At Prior DIY conservatories we are always emphasizing the need to make certain that the groundwork on your conservatory are enough to support the weight of your new conservatory.

Our customers take heed of this stark warning but we have just heard from someone who went with another company and is now bitterly regretting the total lack of advise he was given. Most people thing that a conservatory will start to move if the ground is soaking wet. This may happen if the footings are not deep enough, but a more comon problem is one that we all know at the moment - lack of moisture in the ground.

If you compound this situation with a few decent sized trees in the locality, then without the correct foundations disaster will strike. This is particularly likely if the conservatory happens to have a glass roof and full height glass walls, as in this case. The resultant subsidance which has occured means that the entire thing is unsafe and will have to be taken down and rebuilt from below the ground up.
