THE KEEN GARDENER'S PARADISE

Wednesday June 29, 2011 at 3:02pm

If you are anything like me, you like to grow the odd plant. If you are anything like Karen, our secretary, you like to plough up and plant acres of land!

Well, if you have an eye for the exotic, try growing tropical plants in your new DIY conservatory from Prior Conservatories. If yours is South facing though, remember to ventilate it well, as even the more hardy tropical plants have their limits. If yours is North facing and you do not want to loose the lot when it turns colder, make sure that the temperature remains above 12 degrees at all times.

Also worth bearing in mind is the fact that the plants are liable to get rather dusty, so a wipe over with a soft damp cloth will do, or for the more menacing plants like cacti, use a soft dry brush unless you want a trip to A and E with spines poking out of your skin!

All in all, there is absolutely no reason on earth to think that your new Prior DIY conservatory is just for sitting in with a bottle of Gin - try growing tomatoes!!
