After the fun of assembling and finishing off the building of your new Prior DIY conservatory, it is time to think about the interior decor. Obviously you will have thought about the furniture that would suit and the flooring that you like.
Many of our customers fit Venetian or roller blinds to keep the heat of the sun out on hot days and to create a cosy feel in the evenings. It is important to make sure that the blinds that you are planning to fit are suitable for fixing to a PVCu conservatory.
It is not simply a case of drilling a hole in the plastic and banging in a screw. Our conservatories are fully steel reinforced and you have to approach the job somewhat differently! You will need to get the correct size of pilot drill to drill through the PVCu and into the steel. When doing this, it is a good idea to put a cross of sticky tape over the area to drill into. This will prevent the drill 'running off' ' and damaging the smooth finish of the PVCu
You then need the correct size of self tapping screw suitable for screwing into steel. Make certain that you are not putting the self tapping screws too close to where the glass units sit into the frames. This is normally about 10mm in from the edge of the beadline. Do not overtighten the self tapping screws - just tighten up enough to securely grip the blind brackets.
Please check the above with your blinds suppliers.
