Regardless of who manufactured your windows, there is something important to check before the first frosts are upon us. Double glazing only works at peak efficiency when the double glazed unit, or panel as some call it, has an intact seal. This allows the unit to work correctly and stops the leaking of heat from your house to the outside world.
Typically, if the glass unit is starting to fail, you will notice at certain times of day a mist appearing that you cannot wipe off. This is occurring within the glass unit and is a sign that the butyl seal has failed. Extreme examples are water clearly visible in the bottom of the unit.
If the water in the unit freezes, both panes of glass are likely to crack, apart from the fact that you may just as well leave the window wide open for the lack of insulating properties you will encounter! Here at Prior Conservatories and the mother company, Prior Products we offer a full replacement service for double glazed unit failure. Give us a call on 01789 720222 and we will be able to help you out. We cover all CV postcodes, along with WR, GL and OX.
