Things to think about..!

Thursday March 11, 2010 at 4:27pm

Once you have decided on the style of self build conservatory that you want, there are some extra things to work out. Which way does it face? If it is for example, South facing, it will have the sun on it for the majority of the day. Choosing the correct type of roofing is important here, unless you want to cook!

Solar control polycarbonate is ideal as it reflects the suns rays from the roof during the day, whilst trapping the heat in during the night. If you are opting for a glass roof then something like blue active antisun coated glass units would do much the same thing, as well as cutting out the midday glare.

Make sure that you have enough opening lights to adequately ventilate the conservatory. We supply two as standard, but you may consider more are required. Also the position of the opening windows in relation to the French doors needs thought. Not a good idea to put openers on  either side of the door leaves as they can swing past 90 degrees and damage the toplights.

All of these options can be discussed with our highly skilled sales team on 01789 720222.
