A great time to start digging!

Tuesday February 2, 2010 at 9:59am

Now that the snow has melted and the rain is pouring down and softening the ground, it may well be the right time to start digging your footings for your new conservatory.

Regardlessof the type of conservatory you are erecting, good groundwork is essential. If your soil is sandy, your footings need to go deep enough to cope with the weight of the finished conservatory fixed to the groundwork. If a full height or full height panel conservatory is to be built, then the base must be level, and again, make the base deep enough as the last thing you want is subsidence. Nothing worse than drinking a glass of Pimms on a tilt, just because you did'nt think the conservatory would sink at one end!

A little time and effort at this stage of the procedings will make the whole construction process so much easier.
