Conservatory Heating Options

Thursday January 7, 2010 at 9:20am

With the climate now sub zero, this is a good time to think of heating your conservatory in winter. Various options are possible and some are listed here.

Radiators are one possibility, run into the conservatory from your existing central heating system. Another option would be electric panel or convector heaters fitted along the sides of the conservatory. With thermostats and timers, these can be a good choice.

Air conditioning units are very popular, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Many of these are fitted with air filters making them excellent for allergy sufferers. Most are remote controlled, and again fitted with timers and thermostats.

A newer approach is electric underfloor heating. These consist of low output heating mats built into the floor, and are designed to be left on for weeks at a time. With low power consumption, they give a uniform warmth and eliminate cool spots.
